Questions and answers

How is Info Detail different than Service Detail? Can you use Info Detail on a Service page?

The Information Detail content type has more features. One that is especially helpful is the clickable table of contents for more than 1 section. Long sections of content can be broken into smaller sections. Because Service Details don't offer as much, you should use Info Detail pages as you go forward.

Is putting information on Service page OK even though you said it was more for transactional content?

The purpose is to learn, so yes. The Service page allows more flexibility even if there are no transactions.

We heard there was a Decision Tree in Drupal. Will we be able to use that in the future?

The Decision Tree is like a "wizard" in the tech world. It is a very complicated content type that requires mapping. Currently, it is being piloted by RMV, and the Courts. If you're interested in trying it out, you can submit a ServiceNow request and we'll grant you access. Since it requires binary yes or no answers, you'll have to work backwards from the conclusions to the start of the content. We recommend attending an office hours session so we can help you plan your Decision Tree and give you the tools and support to be successful. These are great because visitors are more involved with this content, which can be empowering.

I want to create a page on carbon storage in state forests, but it is very technical and scientific, and there's the added complication of forest management being received well, as it's a very sensitive topic. What do you recommend?

When creating content, there are some questions that are good to start with first:

  1. Is it all informational? Or transactional?

  2. How far along and developed is the content?

  3. How is a visitor going to consume information? Sequential or pick and choose where they will begin?

How do you handle terminal or "click through" content?

Analytics are important, and we should treat them seriously. Bad scores are sometimes (though not always) due to a certain content type being used over a more suitable one. This leads back to maintaining content: we used to have limited content types, but now we have more content types. If your content would fit into one of these new content types, it's easy to convert your content in a few simple steps.

Is there a way to change the placement of board feature on an Organization page? It displays too high on the page for our needs. We want to list members of our organization, but not so prominently.

There's currently no way to change the placement of the Boards feature, though you can request this via the feature request board. An alternative to listing staff or board membership more discreetly is to create a directory with a Curated List.

Feature requests

  • A hybrid content type between a Binder and a Guide

  • The ability to build a Binder without adding pages
