Login Links

"Log in to" links are customized based on the context of parent pages

The “Log in to” feature is located in the blue header of every page on Mass.gov.

When users click on it, the header expands to show contextual login links (if they exist) as well as the top 3 most visited login links on Mass.gov (these 3 cannot be changed). In other words, the log into links "match" the current content of the page.

Authors should know that the context of the parent or grandparent page (either a Service or Organization page) determines these custom “Log in to” links, giving users faster access to the content they need. The CMS pulls this context from breadcrumbs.

Here is how it works: The CMS seeks information from the parent, grandparent, or great grandparent page to offer users a relevant “Log in to” button. So, when creating content in the CMS, authors should be sure to maintain correct parent pages as these will generate the breadcrumbs that determine the contextual login link options.

Exceptions: "Log in to" links do not appear on News, Advisory, Decision, Rules of Court, Regulation, Executive Order, Event, Person, or Topic pages.
